One person has been confirmed dead, while three others sustained injuries following the collapse of a building in the Fadeyi area of Lagos State on Friday morning.
The incident occurred on Akinola Street, off Ikorodu Road, prompting an emergency response as rescue teams began searching the debris for possible survivors.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said the cause of the collapse had yet to be determined as of the time of reporting.
According to a report by Channels Television, emergency responders were working to establish the number of site workers who might still be trapped beneath the rubble.
LASEMA said, “Emergency responders had launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation to locate and evacuate any victims trapped under the collapsed structure.”
The agency added that it was coordinating rescue efforts at the scene in collaboration with other emergency and security agencies.
Those involved in the operation included LRU paramedics, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, LASASA and officers of the Alakara Division of the Nigeria Police Force.
Rescue operations were ongoing as emergency personnel worked to determine whether additional victims remained trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
