Governor Dapo Abiodun has named Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election in Ogun State.
The announcement was made on Monday during an APC caucus meeting attended by party leaders and stakeholders, where succession plans and preparations for the next electoral cycle were discussed.
Speaking at the gathering, Abiodun said the party had already agreed on who should fly its flag in the governorship contest.
“But first, we’ve decided who is deserving as the next flag bearer of our dear state,” he said.
Following the declaration, Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, rose to his feet as supporters cheered, while chants and trumpets filled the hall.
The governor also stressed the need for unity and continuity within the ruling party, saying the choice of candidate was important to sustaining APC’s political dominance in Ogun State.
The endorsement is expected to shape early calculations ahead of the 2027 governorship race and could narrow the list of aspirants within the party.
