The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will not extend the registration deadline for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In an official bulletin, the Board disclosed that about one million candidates have registered so far for the ongoing exercise.
JAMB stated that the sale of ePINs will end on February 26, 2026, while the registration portal will close on February 28, 2026, stressing that the timeline remains unchanged.
The Board expressed concern over what it described as a low turnout at several accredited registration centres at this stage, noting that many candidates traditionally delay registration until the final days and then call for deadline extensions.
It warned candidates against being misled by individuals or tutorial centres allegedly advising them to wait in anticipation of an extension, describing such actions as capable of creating last-minute congestion and encouraging malpractice.
JAMB reiterated that the registration exercise, which began on January 26, 2026, was designed to run for five weeks in alignment with its examination calendar and that extending the process would disrupt its schedule and coordination with other examination bodies.
Prospective candidates were advised to complete their registration early and disregard any claims suggesting that the deadline would be shifted.
