Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi will today lay his father, Mr Sunday Ndidi, to rest in Umunede, Delta State.
The burial ceremony is scheduled for Friday, February 13, 2026, in the family’s hometown, where relatives, friends and community members are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
Ahead of the funeral, a delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) visited the grieving midfielder in Asaba on Thursday to express their condolences.
The delegation was led by NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, who presented a formal letter of sympathy to the Super Eagles captain and assured him of the football family’s support during the difficult period.
Also present were NFF Executive Committee Member Rt. Hon. Nse Essien, Delta State FA Chairman Godwin Adode, NFF Director of Media and Communications Dr Ademola Olajire, and other officials of the Delta State Football Association.
Ndidi, who plays for Leicester City, has received messages of support from fans and colleagues across the country as he prepares to bid farewell to his father.
