The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has guaranteed and assured the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, voters that the Area Council election will commence by 8:30am as stipulated.<\/p>\n
The Head of Department, Voter Education and Publicity, FCT INEC, Samuel Bassey, gave the assurance on Friday during an interview on Arise Television.<\/p>\n
Recall that the FCT Area Council election is scheduled for February 21, 2026 (today) with INEC expressing readiness to conduct free, fair and credible elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cI guarantee and assure FCT voters that the polls will commence at 8:30am as stipulated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, materials and personnel have already been transported overnight to prevent late commencement.<\/p>\n
Bassey noted that the initiative aims to largely eliminate delays, guaranteeing that polling will begin on time as stipulated by guidelines.<\/p>\n
The FCT INEC HOD of Voter Education and Publicity further stated that with the initiatives put in place, late commencement had been significantly addressed, if not eliminated.<\/p>\n
