The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of Assistant Inspector-General of Police Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).<\/span><\/h3>\n

The decision was taken on Friday, February 20, 2026, following his performance in the Commission\u2019s written examination and oral interview.<\/p>\n

DIG Fayoade, who enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force in 1992, brings over three decades of service to his new rank. Until his elevation, he served as AIG in charge of Zone 2 Command, Lagos, where he earned commendation for community policing initiatives and strategic security operations, including the dismantling of the \u201cBillionaires\u201d kidnapping gang.<\/p>\n

His career has attracted both national and international recognition. Among his accolades are the 2024 Crime Buster of the Year for West and Central Africa, multiple Best Police Station in Africa awards, Best Divisional Police Officer in West Africa recognitions, as well as international security honours from organisations in Switzerland and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Confirming the promotion, PSC spokesman, Torty Njoku Kalu, said the Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), mni, charged the new DIG to regard his elevation as a call to greater responsibility.<\/p>\n

He expressed confidence that Fayoade\u2019s expertise in technology-driven policing and stakeholder collaboration would strengthen national security.<\/p>\n

The PSC is the statutory body responsible for the appointment, promotion and disciplinary control of officers of the Nigeria Police Force, excluding the Inspector-General of Police, and is mandated to formulate policies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Force.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
