The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its support behind President Bola Tinubu following his assent to the Electoral Act 2026 (Amendment), describing opposition criticisms as \u201cnoisemakers\u201d motivated by sentiment rather than facts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In a statement, APC Lagos Public Relations Officer Seye Oladejo called the opposition\u2019s reaction \u201corchestrated hysteria,\u201d stressing that governance \u201ctranscends emotion\u201d and requires constitutional diligence over popularity.<\/p>\n

The party defended the president\u2019s action, noting it followed legislative debate, institutional consultation, and due constitutional process. Lagos APC argued that reforms should strengthen institutions rather than cater to political convenience or experimental systems prone to glitches, legal ambiguities, and cybersecurity risks.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernance demands maturity over melodrama, substance over spectacle, and nation over narrative,\u201d the statement concluded, urging critics to avoid misleading public discourse and acknowledge that electoral integrity requires careful planning and sustainable reforms.<\/p>\n

The amendment, which includes provisions for real-time electronic transmission of election results, had sparked protests and intense debate nationwide.<\/p>\n
