The Academic Staff Union Of Universities, Taraba State University Branch, Has Resumed Its Indefinite Strike Following The Failure Of The Taraba State Government To Carry Out An Earlier Agreement With The Union.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Action Comes Barely Weeks After The Strike Was Suspended To Give The Government Time To Fulfill Promises Reached During Negotiations On January 17, 2025. The Union Said Those Commitments Were Not Honored.<\/p>\n

In A Statement Released In Jalingo On Wednesday And Signed By The Branch Chairman, Dr. Joshua Garba Mbave, The Union Accused The Government Of Failing To Take Practical And Verifiable Steps Toward Resolving The Dispute.<\/p>\n

The Statement Said The Suspension Of The Strike Was Done In Good Faith. It Added That Members Waited Patiently For Progress But Saw No Meaningful Improvement In Their Conditions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Academic Staff Union Of Universities, ASUU, Taraba State University, TSU Branch, Hereby Informs The General Public, Students, Parents, And All Stakeholders That It Has Resumed Its Previously Suspended Total, Comprehensive, And Indefinite Strike Action,\u201d The Statement Read.<\/p>\n

ASUU Explained That Its Congress Meeting Held On February 18, 2026, Carefully Reviewed The Situation Before Taking The Decision To Return To Industrial Action.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

According To The Union, Several Unresolved Issues Forced The Strike To Resume. These Include The Lack Of A Functional Pension Scheme For University Workers, Unpaid Salary Arrears, Non-Payment Of Accumulated Earned Academic Allowances, And Failure To Implement The Newly Negotiated 2025 Agreement Between ASUU And The Federal Government.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mbave Said The Prolonged Neglect Of These Matters Has Continued To Affect Staff Welfare And Weaken Academic Activities At The Institution. He Added That Lecturers Can No Longer Cope With The Economic Pressure Caused By Delayed And Unpaid Entitlements.<\/p>\n

The Union Stressed That Dialogue Had Been Ongoing With The State Government But Produced No Concrete Outcome, Leaving Members With No Option But To Withdraw Their Services Again.<\/p>\n

Students Of Taraba State University Are Expected To Remain At Home As Academic Activities Have Been Suspended Until Further Notice.<\/p>\n
