Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed, has questioned the unity and electoral strength of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying the coalition lacks influential political figures capable of leading it to victory.<\/p>\n
Speaking in an interview on Trust TV, Baba-Ahmed said the ADC does not have leaders with the political clout of former President Muhammadu Buhari or President Bola Tinubu, noting that such heavyweight figures often play key roles in uniting diverse political interests.<\/p>\n
According to him, the absence of dominant political figures within the ADC could trigger internal crises during the party\u2019s presidential primaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t have a Buhari or a Tinubu in the ADC,\u201d Baba-Ahmed said, adding that disagreements are likely to erupt depending on who emerges as the party\u2019s flagbearer.<\/p>\n
He explained that leading contenders within the coalition may struggle to secure unanimous backing from party stakeholders.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf Atiku wins the ticket, some will be unhappy. If Obi or Amaechi wins, others will also resist,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
Baba-Ahmed, however, acknowledged President Tinubu\u2019s political strategy and experience, describing him as focused, well-resourced and determined in his rise to power.<\/p>\n
He further compared the ADC\u2019s situation with the 2011 political arrangement that aided former President Goodluck Jonathan\u2019s re-election, noting that certain political understandings helped shape the outcome at the time.<\/p>\n
According to him, the ADC coalition faces deeper structural challenges that could undermine its chances in 2027 unless it resolves its leadership and unity issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
