The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja (Aruse I), has warned cattle rearers to immediately desist from open grazing in Ibadanland, describing the practice as illegal and unacceptable under Oyo State law.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The monarch stated this during a meeting with members of the Olubadan-in-Council and executive members of the Ijaye Farm Settlers Association at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade, Oba Ladoja stressed that open cattle grazing is prohibited in Ibadanland and across Oyo State, warning that violators would be arrested and prosecuted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpen cattle grazing is illegal and prohibited in Ibadanland and Oyo State in general. Anyone found violating the law will be arrested and prosecuted,\u201d the Olubadan declared.<\/p>\n

He condemned attacks on farmers and destruction of farmlands by some herdsmen, stating that the palace would no longer tolerate insecurity and lawlessness in farming communities.<\/p>\n

The monarch also charged Ibadan Mogajis, Baales and other traditional rulers to remain vigilant in their domains and ensure the protection of lives and property, warning that failure to do so could attract sanctions from the palace.<\/p>\n

Oba Ladoja urged residents to promptly report suspicious herdsmen, kidnappers and other criminal elements to security agencies.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Chairman of the Ijaye Farm Settlers Association, Pastor David Olatunji, lamented increasing attacks on farmers in the area, alleging that farmlands had been destroyed and families assaulted by herdsmen.<\/p>\n

He said efforts to get protection from security agencies had not yielded results, appealing to the Olubadan and the Oyo State Government for urgent intervention to safeguard farmers and their means of livelihood<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
