A motorboy has died, while three other occupants, including a truck driver, sustained injuries after a trailer conveying cement crashed along Mile 6, Ajebo Road, in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The accident occurred around 11:30 am on Wednesday at Agbedejobi village when the cement-laden trailer reportedly suffered brake failure while descending a bridge.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident in a statement, explaining that the driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid a car ahead.<\/p>\n

According to him, the trailer rammed into a ditch before veering onto a railway track, where its cement cargo spilled into a nearby bush.<\/p>\n

Akinbiyi said one of the motorboys died at the scene, while another sustained a broken arm. The driver and the fourth occupant also suffered varying degrees of injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe unfortunate lone crash happened when the trailer, while descending a bridge along the route, experienced a mechanical fault (brake failure) and, in an attempt to avoid the car in front, rammed into a ditch, which led it to a rail track, emptying all its contents in a nearby bush.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of the impact of the crash, one of the motorboys lost his life on the spot, while another had a broken arm, and the remaining two, including the driver, sustained varying degrees of injuries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The deceased and the injured victims were subsequently taken to the General Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, for further medical attention.<\/p>\n

Akinbiyi disclosed that TRACE officials and police personnel participated in the rescue operation. He also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and injured victims.<\/p>\n

He urged motorists to ensure their vehicles were properly maintained before embarking on journeys and warned against overloading, noting the dangers associated with such practices.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
