Henry Nwosu, a former Super Eagles midfielder, has died.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He\u00a0passed away at the age of 62.<\/p>\n

Nwosu\u2019s former teammate, Segun Odegbami, announced this on his social media page on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Nwosu was part of the team that won the 1980 Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Nigeria in Lagos.<\/p>\n

\u201cHenry Nwosu passes on!<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter five days in hospital battling for his life, the one I call \u2018Youngest Millionaire\u2019 passed on at 4:00 am this morning at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos, where he had been in intensive care since Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deep pain in my heart that I have to be the conveyor of the news of the de@th of Henry Nwosu, MON. May he rest peacefully with our Creator in Heaven,\u201d\u00a0Odegbami wrote.<\/p>\n

Nwosu, who was the youngest member of the 1980 AFCON squad, was widely celebrated for his role in Nigeria\u2019s triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations, where the national team, then known as \u2018Green Eagles\u2019, secured the first continental title on home soil.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
