The family of late Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has released details of her burial plans following her tragic death from a snakebite in Abuja.
Nwangene reportedly died on January 31, 2026, after she was bitten by a snake at her residence and rushed to hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
Her sudden passing has continued to draw grief from fans and members of Nigeria’s music community.
Her brother, Kingsley Nwangene, announced the funeral arrangements via his Instagram page, @official_kaybaba1, where he shared her obituary with the caption, “Till I see you again.”
According to the family, a service of songs will hold on February 10 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule Oshun, Dansa, Lagos, by 4:00 p.m., followed by a requiem mass at 6:00 p.m. at the same venue.
The late singer will be laid to rest on February 14, 2026, in her hometown in Enugu State, while a thanksgiving service to celebrate her life and legacy is scheduled for February 15.
In honour of her contributions to music, the Abuja Metropolitan Music Society Choir organised a tribute concert titled “Tribute and Songs” at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
Choir members described her death as a huge loss to Abuja’s classical and contemporary music scene, adding that her remains have already been transported to Enugu State, where her father resides.
