Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe drew massive attention in Lagos as she hosted an elaborate burial and celebration in honour of her late mother.
The actress, who lost her mother several months ago, laid her to rest on Friday, November 28, and organised a grand party the following day to celebrate her life.
The event attracted a high-profile guest list from across Nigeria’s entertainment and public sectors. Among those in attendance were the fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Ashley; former House of Representatives member Abike Dabiri; and numerous Nollywood stars including Iyabo Ojo, Toyin Abraham, Kiekie, Aisha Lawal, Odunlade Adekola, Mide Martins with her husband Afeez Owo, Eniola Ajao, Faithia Williams, and Omowunmi Dada.
Other celebrities present included Eniola Badmus, Nkechi Blessing, Femi Adebayo, Saidi Balogun, Foluke Daramola, Sikiratu Sindodo, Bakare Zainab, Omowunmi Ajiboye, Seyi Edun, Kemi Korede, Laide Bakare, Bimbo Thomas, and Israel DMW, among others.
Guests were seen celebrating the actress’ late mother’s legacy in a stylish and heartfelt ceremony, reflecting both the love for her and the respect for Mercy Aigbe’s family.
Observers noted that the event temporarily “shut down” parts of Lagos as attendees arrived in large numbers, highlighting the influence of the actress within both the entertainment industry and the social scene.
